MEDIATION

A free service of the Maryland Commission on Human Relations

The Maryland Commission on Human Relations offers mediation services to Complainants and Respondents involved in charges of discrimination filed in any of our statewide offices.  This service is voluntary and FREE for all participants.

Mediation is a voluntary, confidential process in which a neutral third person(s) facilitates communication between disputing parties to try to assist them in reaching a resolution.

The Mediation Unit of the Commission manages a roster of volunteer mediators throughout the State.  To become an MCHR volunteer mediator, you must be available to mediate at least once a month during regular business hours, Monday – Friday.  The Commission does not conduct mediations during evening, weekend or holiday hours.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer mediator or getting more information regarding the volunteer mediation program, please complete the Volunteer Application and/or contact Tara Taylor, Mediation Director, at 410-767-6459.
